Shake it off

[deep, deep sigh...]

Well, here we are guys. It's a new chapter, to say the least. Yesterday was exciting, emotional, hopeful, inspiring... And today we get back to work. While I'm sooooo excited for the Pres, VP, and cabinet now in the White House, I know that's not where our work ends. In some ways it feels like it's just beginning. And I hope you're with me for the long run!

For now, let's take a moment to breathe, and release the pent up energy that accumulated in our bodies over the last four years. Today as I led a group in stretching & meditating, I remembered this story I often tell about the possum. Read this old blog post for the full version, but suffice it to say - when we've been stuck in fight/flight/freeze mode for, oh, say 4 years, we can't just pick ourselves up and continue on our way before releasing that energy that we held in our bodies. That's bottling it up, and waiting for it to burst out, somehow, somewhere... #anxiety

So instead, intentionally let it out. I personally had a solo dance party yesterday (something I do often anyway), and a tough workout, and I cried, and I laughed, and I sighed very loudly a few times. Find your own way to shake off that fight or flight energy! Think about it, if your body got ready to FIGHT or to FLEE, but instead you FROZE (most of us did to some extent, we were stuck here after all), then where did the energy your body produced so you could fight go? Where did the energy to run for your life go?? Nowhere, exactly. That's adrenaline, trapped in your body. Let it out.

That's all for now! Hope you're feeling good, and ready for this next chapter. More soon!
